About Discover

Discover Children’s Story Centre in Stratford, east London, is an award-winning interactive creative literature centre serving children aged 0-11 years and their parents/carers.

Discover supports and develops children’s imagination, creativity and curiosity in a magical and stimulating environment and works to develop connections between communities. The Story Centre consists of magical environments created by artists, where children, their families and teachers can build their own stories as they travel through different interactive environments. Discover delivers a year-round programme of participatory family arts activities, literature programmes led by children’s authors and illustrators, community and education projects, schools workshops, artists residencies in schools and training for professionals that work with children and families.

Discover commission authors, illustrators, poets, musicians, visual artists, storytellers, puppeteers, photographers and film-makers to create multi-sensory installations and exhibitions exploring story-related themes to stimulate children’s imaginations. It cultivates young people’s voices, fostering educational equity and building artistic skills, literacy and a love of children’s literature.

Sarah became interim CEO during a challenging time for the organisation. During that time she oversaw the development of a new business plan, a large successful capital bid, and developed new strands of income generation as well as continuing to oversee and develop the organisation’s internationally recognised work.
